US, Germany, France, and other countries urge their citizens to leave Lebanon

(Patria) - The US, UK, and France, Germany, along with several other countries, have issued urgent advice for their citizens to avoid or immediately leave Lebanon as tensions escalate.

This follows Israel considering military action against the Lebanese group Hezbollah after a rocket attack on the Golan Heights, reports News.Az.

The US Embassy in Lebanon has advised citizens traveling to or from Lebanon to closely monitor flight status due to potential sudden changes and to make alternative travel plans if necessary. Additionally, US citizens are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for updates and emergency monitoring.

France has condemned the attack on the town of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and solidarity with the injured. France has also called for measures to prevent further military escalation and reiterated its advice for French citizens to avoid travel to Lebanon and Israel.

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office has updated its travel advice, urging British citizens to exercise extreme caution and avoid all travel to Lebanon.

The Norwegian Embassy in Beirut has also issued a warning about the escalation of conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.

Germany has updated its travel advice, urging citizens to leave Lebanon immediately due to the unstable security situation and increased military conflicts.

The Netherlands has advised its citizens to urgently leave Lebanon, citing high risk and limited embassy assistance in emergencies.

Ireland has called on its citizens to leave Lebanon or cancel travel plans, warning of a rapid escalation of tensions on the Israel-Lebanon border.

Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom reiterated the need for Swedish citizens to leave Lebanon, emphasizing the clear call from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack in Majdal Shams and reminded citizens of its negative travel recommendations for Lebanon, urging them to leave the country.

The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs also highlighted this, advising Danes to leave Lebanon while it is possible.

Australia has also reiterated its travel warning, advising citizens not to travel to Lebanon and to depart while commercial flights are still available, emphasizing the potential closure of Beirut airport.

Lufthansa has suspended flights to Beirut, and several other airlines have done the same.
