(Patria) - The United States plans to increase monthly production of 155mm artillery shells to 100,000 by 2025, said the Pentagon's top weapons buyer, Reuters reported.
- We will be at 100,000 per month in 2025. We were at 14,000 per month six or eight months ago, and today we are at 28,000 per month - says Bill LaPlante, the Pentagon's top weapons buyer.
Demand for 155mm artillery shells has increased following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Stocks of Ukraine's allies for their own defense have dwindled as they have given shells to Kyiv, which fires thousands of them daily.
