SARAJEVO, (Patria) - As part of the Allies' extensive efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, representatives of the United States Army and NATO Headquarters Sarajevo have donated important supplies and medical equipment to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The donation was handed over to the Ministry of Health of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The donation included thermometers, hundreds of protective face shields, five thousand masks, hundreds of protective goggles and suits, hundreds of blankets, pillows, bedding, and hundreds of liters of disinfectant. A similar donation was handed over last Friday (May 22, 2020) to the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Republika Srpska.
At the ceremony held on the occasion of the donation, the Deputy Commander of NATO Headquarters, Brigadier Morten Henriksen, stated that after Bosnia and Herzegovina sent an official request for assistance to the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (NATO), a number of allies responded with significant support to Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a true testament to solidarity within the Alliance operating in situations like COVID-19.
Thanking the NATO Headquarters for the donation, Assistant Minister for Public Health, Dr. Goran Čerkez, emphasized that "as much as the donation itself is important, which will go to our hospital system and support it with the necessary equipment, this cooperation between NATO and the Ministry of Health of the FBiH is very important. I am sure that this is a small step in our great cooperation."
These supplies will benefit workers on the front lines of the fight against the pandemic as they continue their important work in limiting the spread of the coronavirus, and further facilitate the treatment of patients infected with the COVID-19 virus.
