US to redirect all Patriot system orders to Ukraine

(Patria) - President Joe Biden's administration plans to halt all open orders for Patriot air defense systems and interceptor missiles and redirect them to Ukraine until its defense needs are met, the Financial Times reported on Thursday, Reuters reported.

Ukraine has lobbied for US-made Patriot missile defense, which has proven vital to Kyiv's chances of shooting down Russian ballistic and hypersonic missiles.

Recently, Kyiv has increased its demands for missiles following Russian attacks on its energy sector.

Earlier this month, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that his country would supply Ukraine with another 100 Patriot air defense missiles in an initiative with Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.
