Donald Trump's supporters celebrated his now official nomination for US President last night after he won 1,237 votes, writes The Guardian, reports NAP.
Shortly after, Trump addressed the audience via satellite link from his headquarters in New York:
- I am proud to be your candidate for President of the United States. With your vote, this phase of the election process has concluded. Together, we have achieved historic results, with the most votes ever for the Republican Party. This is a movement, and we must go all the way.
During his three-minute address, Trump announced his major speech at the Republican convention, listing priorities such as strengthening the border, "getting rid" of ISIS, and "reinstalling law and order."
- We will talk about this on Thursday evening. But most importantly, together we will make America great again."
In a show of support for the newly elected presidential candidate, numerous prominent Republicans, congressmen, and senators also spoke at the convention:
- Donald Trump is not just a candidate. Donald Trump is a movement, concluded Congressman Chris Collins, adding that western New York has been destroyed by bad trade deals, "allowing countries like China and Mexico to steal our jobs."
