(Patria) - Several European countries are ready to send their soldiers to Ukraine to help preserve peace and react in case Russia violates a potential peace agreement, stated NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in an interview with the German Bild.
Rutte said that details of troop deployment are not being discussed publicly, but confirmed that several countries have already expressed readiness to send their forces.
He explained that the Alliance is currently working on structuring the so-called Coalition of the Willing, which includes defining the nature of land, sea, and air force deployment. All these elements, he said, are currently being coordinated.
Let us recall that five days ago, the leaders of the participating countries of the Coalition of the Willing officially expressed their readiness to deploy support forces in Ukraine as part of security guarantees after the end of the war.
According to the spokesperson for British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the United Kingdom has confirmed its readiness to deploy forces to Ukraine after the cessation of hostilities.
Starmer added that a plan for the post-war deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine has already been prepared.
Yesterday, Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro also stated that Portugal does not rule out deploying troops to Ukraine as part of a peacekeeping contingent, but emphasized that such a move would only be possible after the end of the war.
