Russian Official: Kyiv Lacks Resources to Feed an Army of 800,000

(Patria) - Kyiv will not be able to support an army of 800,000 people, which Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously listed as one of twenty points discussed during negotiations in the United States, said Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador Rodion Miroshnik, TASS reported.

"If sovereignty is necessary, as Zelenskyy claims, and as part of that sovereignty the army must number 800,000 people, what would Ukraine do with such a force? This is an army that Ukraine will not be able to feed," the diplomat said on the Russia-1 TV channel.

"This is an army that someone else will feed. This is a country that someone else will feed. Someone will supply it, and someone will use it to strike Russia," he added.

In this context, Miroshnik said it remains unclear what the first point of the Ukrainian president's plan, intended to confirm Ukraine's sovereignty, actually means.

"And what is sovereignty, especially in its current form and according to current thinking," Miroshnik concluded.

On December 24, Zelenskyy told reporters about a twenty-point plan that Ukraine discussed during negotiations in the US. According to him, the plan includes confirming Ukraine's sovereignty, a non-aggression pact between Russia and Ukraine that includes respecting the line of contact and security guarantees, without specifying any details.

The plan also envisages limiting the number of Ukrainian military personnel to 800,000 in peacetime.
