Russian Prime Minister to meet with Iranian President in Tehran today

(Patria) - Russia announced on Sunday that Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will meet with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in Tehran on Monday, AFP reported.

The announcement followed Russia's condemnation of Israel's "political assassination" of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut, which is supported by Iran. Mishustin will hold talks with Pezeshkian and First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref, the government statement said.

"It is planned to discuss the full range of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres," Russia announced. The talks will focus on "the implementation of major joint projects in the fields of transport energy, industry and agriculture," it added.

Western governments have accused Iran of supplying drones and missiles to Moscow for its war against Ukraine, which Tehran has repeatedly denied.

Pezeshkian is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during a visit to Russia next month to attend the BRICS summit.
