Russia's epidemic epicenter Moscow to ease measures from June 1

(Patria) – The Russian capital, which has been under strict quarantine measures for two months, will begin gradually easing restrictions on June 1.

Shops will open and citizens will be allowed to walk.

Strict measures were introduced in Moscow at the end of March; citizens were only allowed to leave their homes to walk their dog, take out the trash, or for a short visit to the supermarket. An electronic system was also introduced to monitor compliance with the measures.

With a total of 171,443 infections, Moscow is the epicenter of the epidemic in Russia, which has confirmed more than 370,680 infections. At least 3,968 have died in the country, and 142,208 have recovered.

However, the rate of new infections has slowed down, and local authorities claim it has halved, which has prompted the easing of measures.
