(Patria) - Russia is seriously concerned about the situation in the Red Sea and is convinced that the developments there represent a direct projection of the violence in the Gaza Strip, said Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya, Tass agency reported.
"I think it will be difficult for any of our colleagues to deny the fact that the events in the Red Sea are a direct projection of the violence in Gaza, where Israel's cruel operation has been ongoing for three months," the Russian diplomat said at a UN Security Council meeting.
Russia has serious concerns regarding the "state of affairs in the Red Sea region," Nebenzya emphasized.
"The trade routes passing through it are a critical artery for international trade," he added.
