(Patria) - Russian air defense units shot down 65 Ukrainian drones heading towards Moscow on Saturday, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said, Reuters reported.
Sobyanin wrote on Telegram that the drones were intercepted for eleven hours, starting around noon.
The governor of the Bryansk region on the Ukrainian border, Alexander Bogomaz, said on Telegram that units in his region shot down 128 drones. He did not provide a timeframe.
Ukrainian forces announced earlier this week that they had hit a key missile component production plant in the Bryansk region.
Bogomaz said seven people were killed in that attack, without specifying what was hit. According to the latest report from the Russian Ministry of Defense, air defense units intercepted 280 Ukrainian drones in various parts of central and western Russia on Saturday during a ten-hour period ending at 9 PM.
They stated that among the downed aircraft were 47 drones targeting Moscow.
