Russian Embassy against High Representative's actions in BiH, European integration bothers them

The Peace Implementation Council (PIC) on February 10th released a reaction to the actions of the ruling authorities from RS after the Draft Law on the HJPC of this entity was adopted in the National Assembly of RS. The PIC condemned such actions, which were commented on by the Russian Embassy, stating that this organization is once again showing its tendency to ignore Russia's stance.

The Russian Embassy claims that this is another exercise in intimidating rhetoric which, as they stated, can hardly scare anyone.

- The practical and exceptional emphasis on promoting the European integration agenda is also unacceptable. The Management Board's mandate must be limited exclusively to the General Framework Agreement for Peace in BiH. One can only criticize another for "neglecting rights" if they themselves show respect for the law, and primarily international law, stated the Russian Embassy.

The Russian Embassy states that the PIC members, despite their numerous objections, believed in the "infallibility of their appointment of a new High Representative" and are convinced that he can use some "extraordinary tools".

- He must not – because the so-called "High Representative" does not have the necessary legitimacy: the UN Security Council did not approve the candidacy of Mr. Christian Schmidt for this position, they wrote.

They add that the move by the National Assembly of RS, which they condemned, is a step that can be interpreted as a desire for a judicial system that will truly be independent and serve the interests of ordinary citizens. They stated that the undisguised interference of foreigners in the functioning of judicial bodies in BiH is another example of a hypocritical attitude towards the principles of the rule of law.

- Instead of encouraging dialogue, seeking compromises, reaching mutually acceptable agreements, certain member states of the PIC Management Board are deliberately inciting passions. Just as Anglo-Saxon propaganda does regarding Ukraine. In this regard, we declare that all responsibility for the possible destabilization of the situation in BiH, for undermining the Dayton system, will be borne by the so-called "interpreters" of the Peace Agreement, concluded the Russian Embassy.
