Russian Embassy on the BiH Peace Implementation Council Steering Board: Mantras of support look hypocritical!

(Patria) - The Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina commented on the last session of the Steering Board of the Peace Implementation Council. They reiterated that "Christian Schmidt is not the High Representative in BiH".

“Attempts by certain members of the PIC Steering Board to claim otherwise do not legitimize Schmidt, but rather delegitimize the Steering Board. Therefore, the adopted conclusions cannot be considered the stance of the international community, even more so because the content of the document stands out for its bias and imbalance, let alone talking about textual violations of Annex 4 of the Peace Agreement – the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” stated the Russian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, adding:

“Mantras about supporting the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of BiH look hypocritical when, with the approach shown by certain members of the Steering Board, they consciously undermine both the unity, sovereignty (with the intrusive Office of the High Representative), and the territorial integrity of the country.”

The value of the Peace Agreement, according to the statement from the Russian Embassy, lies in it being an open system that allows the statehood of BiH to be built in accordance with the aspirations of its citizens.

“But, as the practice of its implementation shows, only those decisions that are reached by the BiH political subjects themselves can be sustainable and vital, and certainly not those written in the OHR or the US Embassy and adopted, as they say, with the High Representative’s ‘gun to their head’, through blackmail and illegal sanctions, thereby gaining a scholastically formal-legal framework,” emphasized the Russian Embassy.

Finally, they called on all parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina to “reject external mentorship, show wisdom, patience, a compromising approach, presenting the turbulent world with an example of mature and responsible problem-solving for the creation of a truly independent and sovereign Bosnia and Herzegovina and the achievement of prosperity and peace for all its citizens.”
