Russia nearly completed transition to national currencies in payments with CIS and China

(Patria) - Russia has almost completed the transition to mutual payments in national currencies with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and China, said Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, TASS reported.

The issue of creating a payment and settlement system independent of banking services and currencies of Western countries is a key area of Eurasian cooperation, he stressed.

„We have almost completed the transition to mutual payments in national currencies over the past four years. As of 2025, 91% of mutual payments are in national currencies with the CIS, 93% with the EAEU, and 95% with the People's Republic of China, our most important partner,“ Overchuk said.
