Russia eliminates consequences of Typhoon Khanun that flooded thousands of homes

(Patria) - Russia sent a working group on Sunday to oversee the cleanup of parts of the country's Far East
after Typhoon Khanun passed through Primorye, the Ministry of Emergency Situations announced in Moscow.

The Russian news agency TASS quoted the ministry as saying that the number of flooded houses was 4,368, while 5,654 adjacent plots and 7 residential buildings were flooded. It was stated that 28 settlements were cut off.

It is stated that most of the affected homes are in the cities of Ussuriysk and Spassk-Dalni, and in the Oktyabrsky municipal district, in the Primorye region, where Vladivostok is the administrative center.

The ministry announced on its Telegram channel that the working group will "coordinate the work on eliminating the consequences of the floods." It was stated that their plane delivered humanitarian aid, and Mi-8 helicopters helped rescuers to transfer to the location.

It adds that there are no reports of casualties and that more serious damage was avoided by sending units earlier, Reuters reported.

TASS reported that the flood in Ussuriysk, the second largest city in Primorye, was the worst and largest in the last decade and that it affected between 35 and 40 percent of its territory.
