Russia blames US for attack on writer Zakhar Prilepin, who was banned from entering BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the United States of America is "primarily" to blame for the explosion in which one person was killed and pro-Kremlin writer Zakhar Prilepin was injured, AFP reported.

"Responsibility for this terrorist act, as well as for others, lies not only with Ukraine, but also with its Western mentors, primarily the United States," the ministry said. "Washington's lack of condemnation after another terrorist act... exposes them," the statement added. "The silence of relevant international organizations is unacceptable," they added.

The attack on Prilepin, a vocal advocate of the Ukrainian offensive, was "another manifestation of (Kyiv's) systematic approach to eliminating ideological opponents," the ministry said. Such methods have been "actively implanted in Ukraine since 2014 thanks to Washington's efforts," it stated.

Let us recall, Prilepin was in a car yesterday that was blown up by a bomb. The attack happened near the Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod. The driver of the car was killed, and Prilepin was injured.

Prilepin is one of the most important Russian writers and political activists. He was a guest in Belgrade, and the president of the Bosnian entity Republika Srpska, Milorad Dodik, awarded him a prize in 2018 for his contribution to strengthening ties between that entity and Russia. However, he did not arrive in Banja Luka because the state authorities decided to prevent him from doing so, imposing a ban on his entry into Bosnia and Herzegovina.
