Russia launched a fierce attack on Ukrainian regions far from the front, Poland also reacted

(Patria) - Russia launched a wave of drone and missile attacks on western Ukraine overnight, targeting areas far from the front line, Ukrainian media and officials reported today.

Explosions were recorded in the cities of Lviv, near the border with Poland, Chernivtsi, near the border with Romania, and in the northwestern city of Lutsk, media reported.

Following the attack, a fire broke out in a building in Lviv, Mayor Andriy Sadovyi announced, as reported by Index.hr.

Attacks with ballistic missiles and drones

The Ukrainian Air Force earlier warned of incoming ballistic missiles and drones launched from Russia and directed westward. According to official sources, drones were seen approaching the Ternopil and Volyn regions.

Air raid sirens were activated in Volyn, and authorities urged residents to stay in shelters.

During the attack, Poland deployed fighter jets to protect its airspace, the Polish Armed Forces announced on platform "X".
