Russia and the US could coordinate airstrikes to resolve the crisis in Syria, American media reported, according to the Patria News Agency.
The first meeting between American and Russian presidents Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin on Monday after two years, held at the conclusion of the annual UN General Assembly session, lasted 90 minutes, half of which was dedicated to Ukraine and half to Syria, Reuters reported, citing an unnamed US official.
- We are considering it. We are not ruling anything out. But if we have to act, it will only be in full compliance with international law, but there is no question of ground operations, of Russian soldiers participating in it – said the Russian side, reports the French agency AFP.
Obama and Putin had previously disagreed on the role of Syrian President al-Assad at a forum at UN headquarters on Monday, and there was no progress even after bilateral talks.
- Putin said he had the utmost respect for his American and French counterparts, but that they were not Syrian citizens and that the fate of Assad should be decided by the Syrian people, not by Obama or French President Francois Hollande.
Media previously reported that citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina are also fighting on the ISIS side, and that there are more than 200 of them in the ranks of the notorious group. Many of the BiH citizens have died fighting for IS. The father of one of the young men killed in clashes in the Middle East, who is from Sarajevo, recently stated that his son did fight for ISIS, but when he realized what kind of organization it was, he fled to Iraq, where he was killed, writes Patria.
