Russia to increase drone production tenfold

(Patria) - Russian President Vladimir Putin announced yesterday that Russia will increase drone production by nearly ten times this year - to 1.4 million.

- In total, about 140,000 unmanned aerial vehicles of various types were delivered to the armed forces in 2023.

This year, it is planned to significantly increase drone production. To be more precise - nearly ten times - Putin said in St. Petersburg at a meeting on the development of drone production.

The war in Ukraine is largely fought with artillery and drones along a heavily fortified thousand-kilometer front line where hundreds of thousands of soldiers are fighting.

Both Russia and Ukraine have purchased drones abroad and increased their own production for many purposes - from destroying artillery and weapons depots, to attacking energy infrastructure and military ships.
