Russians shot down Ukrainian F-16, pilot killed

(Patria) - A Ukrainian pilot was killed and his F-16 fighter jet was shot down in a large Russian attack with missiles and drones last night, the Ukrainian army announced today.

The statement stated that this is the third such loss of an F-16 fighter jet in the war.

"The pilot used all the weapons the aircraft had, shooting down seven aerial targets in the process. While shooting down the last one, his aircraft was damaged and began to lose altitude," the Ukrainian Air Force announced.

The post also states that the pilot did everything he could and moved the aircraft away from populated areas, but did not have enough time to eject.

The army announced that Russia launched 477 drones and 60 missiles of various types at Ukraine during the night, and that Ukrainian forces destroyed 211 drones and 38 missiles.

Air strikes were recorded at six locations.
