Is Tadić consciously undermining the credibility of the BiH Prosecutor's Office?

The Prosecutor of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Gordana Tadić, has the right not to like the heads of other security agencies in BiH, but she does not have the right not to cooperate with them in the line of duty. Either cooperation or resignation, security professor Nedžad Ahatović told the Patria agency, commenting on the statement by BiH Security Minister Dragan Mektić that Prosecutor Tadić has not spoken with the director of OSA for several months.

A meeting was recently held at the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina between acting Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of BiH Gordana Tadić and her deputies with the Deputy Director of SIPA Đuro Knežević, Deputy Director of OSA BiH Trifko Buha, and Deputy Director of DKPT BiH Milo Jurić. 

The meeting was held due to information about the alleged surveillance and monitoring of the movements and conversations of Prosecutor Tadić and the Vice-President of the HJPC BiH. The directors of the security agencies in BiH were not present at this meeting, but their deputies were.
In recent days, the media have been writing about the inadmissible mistrust between the heads of judicial institutions and security agencies in BiH. Such behavior disrupts the legal order of the country. 

The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Mektić, criticized in an interview on BHT that Prosecutor Tadić has not communicated with some of the directors of security agencies in BiH for months, which jeopardizes the security of the country.

“Unfortunately, the Chief Prosecutor believes constructions from one person with characteristics I have spoken about, and does not believe SIPA, the Intelligence-Security Agency, when we assure her and say: ‘No, no one is following you, no one is eavesdropping on you, no one is monitoring your conversations’, and you cannot convince her otherwise, because she has a phobia that someone is following her. And I understand that, that she has some phobia, but why has she targeted the institutions of this country, we are working in the interest of this country. The Chief Prosecutor should say why she believes people who come from a criminal clan and are part of that association, and does not believe the institutions of this country. You cannot perform such an important function in this country and not believe in the institutions of this country. I believe in the institutions of this country the most, more than anyone else. For me, what the institutions of this country say is the most authoritative, especially in the security sector,” Mektić said in the show “Intervju 20” on BHT.

Professor Ahatović also finds it shocking that mistrust can exist between the highest security agencies in a country. Security agencies, he says, function only in a chain. If any link is not right, the entire chain is disrupted.

“There are too many problems in BiH for the Prosecutor's Office of BiH to allow itself to spend state resources on something whose credibility is questionable. If SIPA or another institution said that Prosecutor Tadić was not being followed, why should that story be reopened and the already limited capacities of the judiciary be spent.

For Ahatović, one thing is certain: criminals are very sophisticated individuals. One should not think that they do not follow developments in the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that they do not further abuse damaged relationships in various ways. 

The media have previously written about the close ties of Prosecutor Tadić with the highest officials of HDZ BiH, who greatly benefit from a vulnerable Prosecutor's Office, primarily because of the party's president Dragan Čović, who is suspected of involvement in corruption and some other illegal activities.
