(Patria) - The US administration does not rule out the possibility of again extending the suspension of its unilateral sanctions against the Russian oil sector, said Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"That is ultimately a decision made by the Treasury Department, but I will tell you, it depends on the circumstances at that time," Rubio said, as reported by TASS last night.
"We would like to end this as soon as possible, because the basic policy of this country has been to sanction their oil. These are time-limited exemptions for the purpose of opening up greater global supply," he added.
The US Treasury Department on May 18 renewed a general license authorizing transactions for the sale and transport of oil and petroleum products loaded onto tankers until April 17, TASS reports.
