(Patria) - The United States is "not happy" about Israeli airstrikes targeting Hamas in Qatar, but the attack will not change Washington's alliance status with Israel, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday as he departed for the region, AFP reported.
"Obviously, we were not happy about it, the president was not happy about it," he told reporters just before leaving Washington for talks with officials in Israel.
"It will not change the nature of our relationship with the Israelis, but we will have to talk about it - primarily about what impact this has" on diplomatic efforts to achieve a ceasefire in war-torn Gaza, Rubio added.
