RTVFBiH and Elektroprivreda signed a memorandum: RTV fee via electricity bills

The managements of Radio-Television of Federation of BiH (RTVFBiH) and Public Company Elektroprivreda BiH signed a Memorandum of Business Understanding today in Sarajevo, which represents the first and most important step towards the transition to the model of collecting the RTV fee through electricity bills, it was announced from the Press Service of RTVFBiH.

With the aim of realizing the collection of the RTV fee through electricity bills, at the level of BiH, they agree to initiate the adoption of appropriate legal regulations and acts with the competent bodies and institutions for the fastest possible implementation of the Memorandum's provisions.

The business and all other will is stated that this new model of collecting the RTV fee for all Public Services in BiH, with the consent and support of other relevant institutions, will come into legal force immediately after the expiration of the current model of collecting the RTV fee.

- By establishing a new system for collecting the RTV fee, public services of BiH would, in a short period, become ready to fully respond to all technical-technological and program requirements of all residents of BiH, whereby the Public broadcasting system in BiH, for the first time since its existence, would be placed on a financially sound basis with an independent and autonomous source of funding, as is the case in all developed European and generally democratic countries of the developed world - it is stated in the announcement.

It was also stated that RTV Federation of BiH, RTRS, and BHRT will inform citizens in a timely manner in the coming period about the transition to billing the RTV fee through bills for consumed electricity.

- By its readiness to join this collection model, JP Elektroprivreda BiH d.d. has shown an exceptionally high level of social responsibility, and has created a prerequisite for BiH's strengthened Public Services and domestic companies, including Elektroprivreda BiH, to gain a strong partner in their future business activities - the announcement adds.
