SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The start of works on the construction of the Bistrica Hydroelectric Power Plant energy system, which will consist of three step-arranged power plants B1, B2a and B3, was officially marked today in Foča in the presence of the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Radovan Višković, several ministers and representatives of the Chinese Embassy in BiH.
The hydroelectric power plants are being built in the lower course of the Bistrica River, along the Foča-Sarajevo main road, and each will consist of a dam, a diversion tunnel, a penstock, and a machine hall.
The total installed capacity of this system is 39 megawatts with a total annual production of 152 gigawatt-hours of electricity.
The price of the execution contract is 103 million euros, and the investors are the company Hidroelektrane Bistrica and the company Hidroelektrane na Drini, which is the majority owner.
Financial support will also be provided by "Elektroprivreda RS".
The contractor is the China National Aero-Technology International Engineering Corporation - CATIC.
At the ceremony, it was emphasized that with the start of the construction of the Bistrica HE, another chapter of building large energy facilities has been opened, which will contribute to improved electricity supply in the future and contribute to the growth of GDP in RS.
It is planned that all three hydroelectric power plants on the Bistrica River near Foča will be connected to the grid within four years at the latest.
