Richard Gere urgently hospitalized during family trip to Mexico

(Patria) - Hollywood actor Richard Gere was hospitalized with pneumonia this week during a family trip to Mexico to celebrate his wife Alejandra Silva's 40th birthday.

TMZ reports that the actor was diagnosed with a lung infection after checking into a hospital near their vacation home in Nuevo Vallarta.

It was said that Gere had been suffering from a cough before the trip, where his health reportedly worsened to the point that he felt the need to seek medical attention.

The actor reportedly spent one night in the hospital, and has since been discharged from the facility and his health is improving, according to close sources.

He has reportedly been given antibiotics to continue treatment as he recovers from the infection outside the hospital.

Wife Alejandra revealed to followers that the whole family had been sick for the past three days and added that the situation is now better, reports Dnevnik.hr. She also posted a video of herself walking with Gere and their son.

Gere married the Spanish publicist and activist in 2018, and they started their relationship in 2014. They have two sons together, four-year-old Alexander and a two-year-old whose name they have not yet revealed.

Alejandra is the daughter of businessman and former vice-president of the Spanish football club Real Madrid, Ignacio Silva, and her family has been close to Richard for many years.
