Poll results: Most Americans do not support protests against emergency measures

(Patria) – Most Americans do not support protests against emergency measures, a new poll by Yahoo!News and YouGov has shown.

About 60% of respondents do not support protests demanding the government lift social distancing and home isolation measures.

Slightly less than a quarter of surveyed citizens (22%) support protests demanding the "opening up" of the US, while 18% are "unsure".

According to Yahoo! News, most Republicans disapprove of demonstrations organized in several American states.

Overall, the poll results indicate that Americans are cautious about reopening the economy while the coronavirus epidemic is ongoing.

In the US, 803,575 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed, and 43,663 people have died. So far, 75,317 citizens have recovered.

The poll was conducted between April 17-19 and included more than 1,500 adult citizens.

Last weekend, protests were held in several federal states, including Texas and Michigan. Citizens who came out to protest spoke about concerns over job losses, claiming the virus is not as dangerous as the government claims, reports NewsWeek portal.
