Rector Škrijelj in Novi Sad: Representatives of 80 leading Chinese and European universities gathered

Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Prof. Dr. Rifat Škrijelj, participated in the "Fifth Dialogue on Education Policies" and the "Fourth Meeting of the Consortium of Higher Education Institutions", which were held on September 21 and 22, 2017, at the University of Novi Sad.

This event is the outcome of the international cooperation platform between the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, better known as the "16+1 Mechanism", under the auspices of the "One Belt – One Road Initiative".

The international cooperation platform between the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe (CIEZ) called the "16+1 Mechanism" is focused on coordinating the development strategies of 17 countries and relates to cooperation in the fields of investment, infrastructure, transport, science, education, culture, tourism, and agriculture, with the aim of providing a platform for accelerated growth and development. In addition to China, the international initiative includes 16 European countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, and the Czech Republic.

Representatives of the People's Republic of China and 16 European countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, are striving, through this model of cooperation in the field of higher education, to find the best solutions for the framework of dual education, internationalization of study programs, and the creation of universally accessible educational resources, with the aim of strengthening the process of societal digitalization.

The "Fourth Meeting of the Consortium of Higher Education Institutions" of the People's Republic of China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe gathered representatives of 80 leading Chinese and European universities. This meeting was an opportunity to consider possibilities for improving cooperation through joint capacity building in the fields of higher education, science, and research.
