Reconstruction lasts two years: Kumrovec Health Center to open in September

KS Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković, Novi Grad Municipality Mayor Semir Efendić, Director of JU Health Center KS Fuad Husić and Director of the KS Construction Institute Ljiljana Pelidija visited the Kumrovec Health Center today, and according to the contractors, the works will be completed by the end of next month.

The reconstruction of the Kumrovec Health Center began in January 2014, and its completion was planned for August 2015. However, the completion of the works has been delayed for a year, and Mayor Efendić stated that he is not satisfied with the reconstruction.

- During our previous visit, we announced the termination of the contract with the contractor if the pace of work did not accelerate. Today, the situation is much better. We have received assurances that all works except for the external landscaping, which is not a condition for opening the facility and can be done later, will be completed by the end of July. With the technical acceptance that follows, in the second half of August, we will put the new, modern Health Center facility back into operation - announced Mayor Efendić.

The Kumrovec Health Center is the largest facility of its kind in Sarajevo Canton, serving 50,000 residents of the Novi Grad municipality. Precisely because of this, as Mayor Efendić pointed out, there have been many problems in providing health services over the past two years. The reconstructed facility will have slightly more than 8,000 square meters of usable space. Everything except the walls has been reconstructed, including all installations, floors, ceilings, windows, and thermal facade, and seven million KM have been allocated for this from the budget of Sarajevo Canton, the KS Health Insurance Fund, and the Municipality of Novi Grad.

The KS Construction Institute has planned funds of 350,000 KM in its construction land development program for this year for the landscaping around the Kumrovec Health Center building. 

Both patients and medical staff have already lost patience waiting for the reconstruction to be completed, and they have been relocated to other health centers for two years.
