Reis Kavazović: The Palestinian people expect a reaction from the world public

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Husein ef. Kavazović, condemned the attacks by Israeli forces on worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of Jerusalem - Al-Quds.

“As the Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, I most strongly condemn the attacks by Israeli forces on worshippers in the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy city of Jerusalem-Al-Quds. The desecration of the sanctity of the mosque and the harassment of peaceful worshippers is unacceptable, but it is a graver crime when it is planned and carried out during the holy month of Ramadan.

The footage we have witnessed in recent days has disturbed not only Muslims around the world but also all those who desire a just peace in the Holy Land. The Palestinian people rightly expect everyone in the world to condemn the seizure of Palestinian homes, their land, and the continuation of the occupation, as well as the changes to the status quo in the occupied city. This is an obligation for all those who oppose policies of apartheid and the systematic denial of the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people. This should not be just a Palestinian struggle, nor a Muslim or Arab struggle. This is a struggle for the conscience of humanity and the future of relations between religious communities and the Holy Land.

Occupation, seizure of property, persecution, and denial of fundamental human rights on religious, national, or any other grounds have no place in the world we should leave to future generations, and therefore we rightly expect a reaction from the world public and those who can help stop this injustice.

We, Bosnian Muslims and Bosniaks, in these blessed days of Ramadan, are with our brothers in Palestine and all disenfranchised people in our prayers, words, and deeds.”
