SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Valjevo has filed an appeal with the Court of Appeal in Belgrade against the decision of the Higher Court to approve the rehabilitation request of Nikola Kalabić, former commander of the Royal Guard of the Yugoslav Army in the Homeland, confirmed Dragana Marković, Higher Public Prosecutor in Valjevo.
The appeal seeks to amend the decision and reject the rehabilitation request filed ten years ago by Vesna Kalabić, Nikola Kalabić's granddaughter, a Chetnik duke from World War II.
"During the proceedings, it was undoubtedly established that Nikola Kalabić was declared a war criminal by the decisions of the State Commission. No one, not even historians, can give legal qualifications to the significance of the State Commission's decisions when the Rehabilitation Law clearly stipulates it," says Marković.
We remind you that at the beginning of July, a little more than four years after the annulment of the previous one, the Higher Court in Valjevo made a new decision, again approving the request for the rehabilitation of Nikola Kalabić.
By the rehabilitation decision, the court determined that seven decisions of the State Commission for Determining the War Crimes of the Occupiers and Their Accomplices during World War II, made from March to September 1945, as well as four decisions of the State Commission for Determining the War Crimes of the Occupiers and Their Accomplices during World War II, made from April to October 1945, concerning Nikola Kalabić, are considered null and void from the moment they were made.
