SARAJevo, (Patria) - The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina has issued a verdict acquitting Zijad Mutap, Alisa Ramić, formerly Mutap, MUP KS police officers Hasan Dupovac and Josip Barić, and Muamer Ožegović of charges of illegal mediation, aiding the perpetrator after committing a criminal offense, obstruction of evidence, and giving false testimony in connection with the death of Dženan Memić.
The Memić family reacted strongly after the verdict and left the courtroom.
After the verdict was read, Muriz Memić stated in front of the Court that he will "prove who killed Dženan".
"Someone cannot be killed and not be held accountable. I am not discouraged, I am not disappointed. The investigation continues, we will not stop for sure. We will prove who killed Dženan," Memić said.
"Let the chorus of gossips try, I am my father's only son. Damn everyone who tries anything, no matter who or what they are. Once again, damn everyone who tries anything, no matter who or what they are," Memić said.
He then stated that those responsible for Dženan's murder will certainly be found.
Arijana Memić stated that there "will be justice for Dženan, I swear to God".
"I said they are not honorable and just, woe to them for this great injustice. We have been suffering for seven years to get to the truth. As long as there are unjust judges, this is how it will be every time. We are telling them that they will see who we are and what we are and how much strength we have," Memić said.
"There is no giving up, because if we gave up, we would betray Dženan, and we will not betray him," Memić said.
Lawyer Ifet Feraget stated that "the only thing I agree with Judge Branko Perić on is that we have never had this in our judiciary".
"On one occasion, before Judge Perić took over this case, he asked me if one of the cantonal prosecutors had participated in the cover-up of the murder of 'Dženan Memić'. I told him that she had and presented him with evidence. It is about a prosecutor who had the opportunity to provide protection to two witnesses. As for Judge Perić's comments, to say I am disappointed is an understatement. I must maintain my dignity. At one point, he asked me if I would also leave the courtroom after Muriz and Arijana left. I state responsibly, and the evidence confirms it, that Dženan Memić was killed that night around quarter to 10. There are murderers, we have not heard from Judge Perić even once that an indictment from the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office was filed, that the Cantonal Court twice acquitted the accused due to an alleged traffic accident, that the Supreme Court confirmed that a traffic accident did not occur. The question of all questions is whether we, as a society, will move in a better direction after this case. I do not want to say that all the accused must be unconditionally convicted, but Judge Perić's comments, which are not based on objective evidence, are insulting. If Alisa had remembered what happened, we would know who the killer is. If she had provided us with the remaining information properly, we would have found the killers," Feraget said.
