SPahoviĆ's REACTION Doctors in BiH have long ceased to be brothers, nor is human life respected!

A. Čorbo-Zećo

Since yesterday, there has been a 'search' for doctors, four of them, who voted at the Ethics Committee of the Medical Chamber to revoke the license of Dr. Ismet Gavrankapetnović. Many names have been changed, and there have been denials and requests to remove their names. Most are aware that such a shameful act should not befall any doctor who respects themselves and the science they practice. Especially since, on the other side, stands a man who publicly opposed the doctors' decision to stop treating a child!

However, one reaction is particularly striking, and that is the reaction of Dr. Raho Spahović.

He reacted to the article titled: "Suljić and Miladinović loudest in punishing Gavrankapetanović."

"The mentioned article is full of untruths, and I ask you to publish this denial on your portal, otherwise, you will have to prove your claims in court. Namely, you claim that I, Doctor Raho Spahović, voted to revoke the license of the 'moral pillar' Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović, which is an absolute lie. At yesterday's session of the Committee for Medical Ethics and Deontology of the KS Medical Chamber, I did not vote because I am not a member of the mentioned committee, and therefore I have no right to vote. Logical, isn't it?

Furthermore, the Committee for Medical Ethics and Deontology determined that Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović violated the code of medical ethics and deontology of the FBiH Medical Chamber. Therefore, the case will be forwarded to the chamber's prosecutor for further proceedings.

Regardless of all the media spin, the shameful act of Doctor Ismet Gavrankapetanović, i.e., the violation of the medical code of ethics and deontology, will be recorded," Spahović wrote.

With this denial, Spahović seemed to express regret that he did not vote, and placing quotation marks around the description of Dr. Gavrnakapetanović as a 'moral pillar' said a lot about the course of yesterday's meeting and the way it was approached.

Spahović did not write in his denial whether refusing to treat a child is a violation of the medical code of ethics and deontology...

We remind both Dr. Spahović and others of their obligations according to the Hippocratic Oath. Journalists should not have to remind them of this.

"At the moment when I enter the ranks of the medical profession, I solemnly promise to dedicate my life to the service of humanity. I will preserve due gratitude and respect for my teachers. I will practice my profession conscientiously and with dignity.

My primary concern will be the health of my patient. I will respect the secrets of those who confide in me. I will maintain with all my might the honor and noble traditions of the medical profession. My colleagues will be my brothers. In carrying out my duties towards the patient, I will not be influenced by any considerations of religion, nationality, race, political or class affiliation. I will absolutely respect human life from its very beginning. Not even under threat will I allow my medical knowledge to be used contrary to the laws of humanity. I solemnly promise this, freely, invoking my honor."

In BiH, we are far from all of this, and doctors have long ceased to be brothers, nor is human life respected!
