(Patria) - The international community was today informed of the content of the letter sent by Dragan Čović, President of HDZ BiH, following the decision of the Central Election Commission of BiH to call the General Elections for October 2nd. In the letter sent to multiple international representatives in BiH, Čović even threatens the peace and stability of BiH, as well as a new territorial reorganization of BiH. We asked for the position of the British Ambassador to BiH, Matthew Field.
"We remind any political actor who considers or threatens unilateral moves contrary to the legal and constitutional order of this country that this is a path that will only lead to increased isolation, and that such actions are contrary to the interests of the citizens of this country.
As the United Kingdom recently demonstrated through the use of sanctions, we take attempts to destabilize or endanger BiH seriously," stated the Embassy of the United Kingdom in response to Patria.
We remind you that on April 11th, Great Britain imposed sanctions on the member of the Presidency of BiH and leader of SNSD, Milorad Dodik, and the President of Republika Srpska, Željka Cvijanović, due to their "destabilizing actions in Bosnia and Herzegovina" and "attempts to undermine the legitimacy and functionality of Bosnia and Herzegovina".
Sanctions include travel bans and asset freezes. These are the first British sanctions for politicians in BiH, but according to certain announcements, there could be more for some other officials.
