(Patria) - The Vice President of FBiH, Melika Mahmutbegović, said that she cannot sign a document that has not been agreed upon, referring to the Constitutional Court judges appointed today by Marinko Čavara, the President of FBiH. She pointed out that it is extremely inappropriate that he blocked the appointment of judges for five years, and then appointed judges at a press conference, without the consent and discussion with the vice presidents.
"It is sad that the President of FBiH has imagined himself to be the key person for the functioning of FBiH in a way that he can block processes for five years, and then at a press conference, without any need to consult and discuss with the vice presidents who are obliged by the Constitution to give consent to the appointment of Constitutional Court judges. This speaks volumes about the arrogant approach when it comes to this issue. I regret that these things are happening in this way because the path in FBiH for creative, good processes lies in respecting the Constitution of FBiH and the competencies of both the president and vice presidents," said Mahmutbegović.
She pointed out that Čavara would prefer that there were no vice presidents and no one except the President of FBiH.
"He should have done this five, or rather four years ago, because this procedure has been ongoing since 2016 and he has not respected the Constitution since then," she said.
She stated that this is "buying time and looking for culprits elsewhere".
