REACTION Hadžibajrić: KJKP Rad obstructs Municipality and its citizens

The Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo is not satisfied with the business cooperation with KJKP ''Rad'' d.o.o. Sarajevo regarding the contracted works on the reconstruction/asphalting of roads in this municipality. The mentioned company is unable to fulfill its contractual obligations, and for a long time, the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo has been facing the problem of unfinished streets where works are taking an unacceptably long time. Given that the winter period is approaching and the weather conditions will worsen, the competent municipal services justifiably express doubts that some streets – primarily Logavina and Muse Ćazima Ćatića streets, will not be completed and will remain in this state until spring, which is unacceptable.

After all the problems in Muse Ćazima Ćatića street and the constant urgencies sent to public utility companies KJKP ''Vodovod i kanalizacija'' d.o.o. Sarajevo and KJKP ''RAD'' d.o.o. Sarajevo to speed up the works, the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo informs the public that all objective deadlines have been "missed" and that the contractors are solely to blame for this. KJKP ''RAD'' d.o.o. Sarajevo has been preparing for asphalting in the mentioned street for thirty days, and installing curbs – which is inexplicable considering that the street is about 300 meters long. A similar situation exists in Logavina street, and at both these locations, there is an evident lack of human resources and machinery, and very often there are no workers at the construction sites at all.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, has repeatedly expressed dissatisfaction due to the inaction of utility companies, and according to him, the last straw was entering the winter period and putting the citizens of this municipality in a situation where they cannot use some of the most important and busiest streets in Stari Grad.

- We completed the tender procedure on time and selected the contractor, and KJKP ''RAD'' d.o.o. Sarajevo submitted the most favorable offer, but it is evident that they cannot or do not want to fulfill the contract. Currently, they are carrying out works in Logavina and Muse Ćazima Ćatića streets, and no one can answer when they will finish them, so I am sure they will "drag their feet" until spring," says Hadžibajrić. He also adds that ''Rad'' undertook a contractual obligation this year to reconstruct and asphalt four more streets: Ćemerlina, Grličića brdo, Čadordžina, and Glođina, but there is no chance they will complete these works before spring. In addition to the above, the Municipality initiated the conclusion of a contract for the reconstruction/asphalting of Boguševac street, but the mentioned company (KJKP ''RAD'' d.o.o. Sarajevo) has not submitted the signed and certified copies of this contract to this day.

- This is direct obstruction by the company ''Rad'' towards the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo and its citizens. We have deeply entered winter, they cannot finish the works, and the direct culprit for this is the executive director of this company, Suad Handanagić, who was once an employee of the Municipality of Stari Grad, then a candidate for mayor of this municipality, and finally was rewarded with a director's position in the company ''Rad''," said Hadžibajrić. He adds that millions of funds are allocated from the municipal budget for street repairs and that he will not allow KJKP ''RAD'' d.o.o. Sarajevo or any other company to not respect contractual obligations and put the Municipality and its citizens in a situation of entering the winter period unprepared. "I call on the responsible persons in this company to get serious and do the job they are paid for. If they cannot do the job they have undertaken, it is more honest to say so and let others do it. We will not pay for their inaction - concludes Hadžibajrić.
