Reaction of nine UNSA professors to Jasmin Velagić's statements

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Nine professors of the University of Sarajevo Nabil Naser, Jasmina Alajbegović, Mirsad Kacila, Mirza Biščević, Kemal Dizdarević, Zelija Velija, Ismet Gavrankapetanović, Sanko Pandur and Adnan Hadžimuratović today sent an open letter as a reaction to the positions of the President of the UNSA Trade Union, Jasmin Velagić. The professors state that what Velagić is doing is "betrayal of the union struggle of their fellow colleagues".

"Our state inspectorates, courts, ombudsmen for human rights, and the high representative have stood by the law and protected us with their solutions and decisions. Only the University Trade Union, or rather Mr. Velagić, has never dared to say a single word in our defense. And our Trade Union is the first one called upon to protect severely violated labor rights," the letter states.

The professors state that by following the activities of the Trade Union in the media, they see that Velagić is "very engaged in protecting managers".

"We can note with resignation that neither the Trade Union nor Velagić have ever uttered a word in defense of the expelled professors from the Faculty of Medicine who were removed from the University due to a gross violation of the law, and because of a different opinion. Perhaps for the first time in history, the Trade Union, or rather Mr. Velagić, are defending those who carried out the expulsion, and not protecting the disenfranchised who were kicked out of the University," states the letter from the nine professors who are leading a legal battle to return to the teaching process at the Faculty of Medicine in Sarajevo.
