The Director of the Tax Administration of the Federation of BiH, Midhat Arifović, stated in an interview for the BiH news agency Patria (NAP) that he does not understand why the Head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Mission, Ron van Roden, cited the exchange of information between tax administrations as a weakness in BiH, when this system has been functioning flawlessly since January 1st of this year.
During today's conversation with the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BiH, Vjekoslav Bevanda, Roden stated that weaknesses still exist in both entities, causing risks for doing business in BiH. Among other things, he cited the exchange of information between tax administrations as a weak point.
- We were in daily contact with Roden, sent him reports daily, and he was very satisfied. Since January 1st, the exchange of information between the entity tax administrations, the Brčko District Tax Administration, and the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH has been functioning without any problems, and I do not understand why someone would want to present this part in a bad light – Arifović told NAP.
He added that the only weakness of tax administrations in BiH could be the lack of a unified tax administration, which would make the functioning of the tax system cheaper, simpler, and much more efficient than it is now, but that politics in BiH is still blocking this for some reasons.
