Bosnia and Herzegovina's obligations on the path to NATO discussed

The seventh session of the Commission for NATO Integration Process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, chaired by the Chairman of the Commission for NATO Integration Process of BiH Josip Brkić, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH, was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Patria reports.

The session reviewed current issues from the NATO integration process of BiH, with a special focus on current activities related to BiH's obligations regarding the implementation of the BiH Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP BiH). Activities of BiH institutions related to the preparation of responses to the European Commission's Questionnaire were also reviewed.

The progress of the implementation of the BiH NATO communication strategy and current activities for organizing the international disaster response exercise "Bosnia and Herzegovina 2017" were discussed, as well as other current issues of the BiH NATO integration process.

The Commission adopted a series of conclusions defining the next steps and obligations, with the obligation to develop a document for the new cycle of IPAP BiH for the period 2017-2019 being highlighted as a priority. In this regard, the opinion and recommendations of the NATO Headquarters in Brussels were requested.

It was concluded that it is necessary to continue the campaign of informing the BiH public about the BiH NATO integration process, as well as specific target groups of society (decision-makers, academia, youth and student population, etc.), in accordance with available financial resources allocated for this purpose, with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in BiH, which takes over the status of contact embassy with BiH on NATO integration issues from January 1, 2017, also playing an active role.

The session was attended by members of the Commission from BiH institutions involved in the NATO integration process, and representatives of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo.
