Drug dealing network busted, police arrest drug smugglers

An extensive operation codenamed "Transit" is underway in Banja Luka and Trebinje, aimed at combating drug smuggling, conducted by the Prosecutor's Office of BiH in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska. 

The operation is focused on dismantling organized drug dealing networks whose members make drugs available to young people and cause significant harm to security in BiH.

- Since the early morning hours, under the order of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH, dozens of police officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska are conducting searches and arrests in the areas of Banja Luka and Trebinje. An investigator from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH is also on the ground, coordinating the work of authorized officials.

The operation is aimed at detecting and dismantling a drug dealing network that has been operating for a long time in the areas of Trebinje and Banja Luka, smuggling narcotic drugs from Montenegro into BiH, primarily marijuana-skunk and other drugs, which are sold on the illegal drug market to a large number of consumers and addicts from the areas of Banja Luka and Trebinje, including young people, minors, and school-aged individuals.

Following a well-prepared operation, activities have been carried out, including the arrest and detention of a significant number of individuals, as well as searches of apartments, houses, facilities, and vehicles used by the suspects, with the aim of finding and seizing narcotic drugs.

The target of the operation is more than 10 suspected individuals, mostly from the Banja Luka area and a few from Trebinje.
These individuals are under investigation for having, as an organized criminal group, engaged in smuggling, procurement, distribution, and sale of narcotic drugs to addicts and consumers in the areas of Trebinje, Banja Luka, and surrounding areas for an extended period, thereby acquiring significant illegal financial gains and causing harm to young people, their families, and the entire community.

In the activities conducted so far, a significant quantity of narcotic drugs and money derived from these criminal offenses have been seized. Following the operation, further actions will be taken against the suspects as instructed by the prosecutor. Through these activities, the Prosecutor's Office, together with partner police agencies, is resolutely opposing drug crime and drug mafia structures in all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina - it was announced from the Prosecutor's Office of BiH.
