The association "Women-Victims of War" sent a written inquiry to the Court and Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Department I for War Crimes) asking why Oliver Krsmanović was not kept in custody of the Court of BiH until he was sent to serve his prison sentence, according to a statement from the Association, reports the Patria News Agency.
Past experience records the escape of several war criminals finally sentenced to 15 or more years in prison, creating a good reason for anyone found at liberty to seek refuge in one of the neighboring countries to avoid serving their sentence.
So far, due to the negligence of the Court of BiH (trial panels), the following have avoided serving their sentences: e.g., Novak Đukić for crimes in Tuzla, sentenced to 20 years, Momir Savić from Višegrad to 17 years in prison, and others.
The Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH confirmed the First Instance Verdict of 18 years in prison for Oliver Krsmanović from Višegrad on June 9 this year and did not send him to serve the imposed prison sentence but released him.
Since June 10, surviving victims, witnesses, and families of the murdered have encountered Oliver Krsmanović daily in Višegrad as a free citizen who moves freely around Višegrad, and in his free time, he sends messages via the social network Facebook, according to the statement signed by the President of the Association, Bakira Hasečić.
