War Crime in Herzegovina: Miodrag Grubačić and Ilija Đajić Arrested, Third Suspect on the Run

At the order of a prosecutor from the Special Department for War Crimes of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, police officers of SIPA, in the area of Trebinje and Bileća, located and arrested Miodrag Grubačić, born on 14.02.1964 in Bileća, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Ilija Đajić, born on 06.11.1971 in Bileća, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina, reports the Patria news agency.

The third suspect is on the run, and police officers of SIPA and partner agencies are intensively searching for him.

Simultaneously with the arrests, searches were conducted of apartments and facilities used by the suspects.

The aforementioned individuals are under investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and are suspected of having committed the criminal offense of crimes against humanity in the area of Bileća during 1992.

They are suspected of crimes committed against victims of Bosniak and Croat ethnicity from the areas of Bileća, Nevesinje, Trebinje, Gacko, and other places, several hundred of them, who were unlawfully detained in a camp formed within the barracks in Bileća.

The suspects are accused of severe torture and abuse of detainees, beatings, infliction of serious physical and psychological injuries, sexual abuse and humiliation, intimidation and taking to mock executions, holding in inhumane conditions, as a result of which, due to the conditions in the camp and the lack of medical and healthcare assistance, 4 persons died, and a large number of victims suffered serious physical and psychological injuries, from which they still suffer consequences today.

After the arrests, the suspects will be handed over to the prosecutor in charge, who will question them and then make a decision on filing a motion for detention or prohibition measures in accordance with the law, the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced.
