WAR IN UKRAINE Erdogan called on negotiators for peace, Russia will not use nuclear weapons

(Patria) - It is the 34th day of Russian aggression against Ukraine.

10:00 - Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on negotiators for an agreement. He said that peace has no price. He added that he is ready to host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

9:00 - Ukraine is advocating for its territorial integrity and sovereignty in the negotiations. Russia has abandoned 'denazification', but still seeks neutrality regarding NATO.

6:50 - The Ukrainian delegation has arrived in Istanbul, Turkey, for peace talks with their Russian counterparts.

The delegation is led by Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, and also includes Mykhailo Podolyak, head of the president's office. They say their main priority is to secure a ceasefire, although there is skepticism about whether this is likely.

The host of the face-to-face talks, the first in more than two weeks, will be Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The meeting is scheduled to begin on Tuesday at 10:00 AM local time (07:00 GMT).

Among other things, Russia is demanding that Ukraine abandon any intention of joining NATO - an issue on which Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said he is willing to compromise.

6:30 - The Ukrainian army has just released its latest report, claiming that its forces have carried out successful counterattacks in some directions.

Russia continues with missile strikes in an attempt to completely destroy the infrastructure and residential areas of Ukrainian cities, according to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Army.

Such attacks in the temporarily occupied regions of Kyiv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Kherson, and Kharkiv violate the requirements of international humanitarian law and have led to Russian troops continuing to terrorize the civilian population, officials said.

"Residential buildings were shot at; people were robbed, abducted, and held hostage," the report states.

A total of seven Russian attacks were prevented during the past day, and 12 tanks and 10 armored vehicles were destroyed, they report.

The Ukrainian Air Force also claims to have hit 17 aerial targets yesterday, including 8 aircraft, 3 helicopters, 4 UAVs, and 2 missiles.

6:25 - Russia will use nuclear weapons only in the event of a threat to the country's survival, not because of the current war in Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told American PBS.

"But any outcome of the operation in Ukraine is, of course, not a reason to use nuclear weapons," said Dmitry Peskov.

"We have a security concept that very clearly states that only when there is a threat to the existence of the state, in our country, can we use and will actually use nuclear weapons to eliminate the threat to the existence of our country," Peskov added.
