Two people were injured in clashes in Ferguson between special police and demonstrators, and their condition is currently unknown, police said, reports the Patria news agency.
After a day of peaceful events marking the anniversary of the death of black teenager Michael Brown, who was killed by a white police officer on August 9 last year, clashes broke out in the evening. They erupted when police attempted to disperse demonstrators who began blocking traffic and breaking windows on the street where riots began last year following Brown's murder.
The St. Louis County police tweeted that "several shots" were fired, and local media reported that one person was taken to the hospital. Several hundred people gathered on Sunday in Ferguson, Missouri, at the site of Michael Brown's murder, US media report.
