Wounded teacher breathes on his own, further recovery to follow

(Patria) - English language teacher and assistant principal of Lukavac Grad Elementary School Nedim Osmanović, who was wounded yesterday, is breathing on his own and has been taken off the respirator.

Osmanović underwent emergency surgery yesterday at the University Clinical Center in Tuzla, and the bullet hit him in the neck. 

"The patient was disconnected from mechanical ventilation last night. The condition is still extremely serious, but he is currently stable and conscious. According to medical procedure, he will undergo further diagnostics today," said the spokesperson for the University Clinical Center in Tuzla, Ersia Aščerić – Mujedinović.

Osmanović was wounded yesterday in the school premises by a 13-year-old student who had been expelled from the school due to bad behavior. He fired several shots, managing to hit the teacher with one.

The perpetrator has been arrested, and the weapon was found with him. It was a pistol he had at home. The boy's father has also been arrested.
