Ramić: The verdict is a compromise, Karadžić is guilty of genocide in all occupied places and cities in BiH

Due to a political compromise by the ICTY Trial Chamber, the key, universal, and civilizational message of the verdict, intended to discourage all future planners and perpetrators of genocide from committing evil and going unpunished, has been omitted. Unfortunately, justice has not been served by the ICTY's decision, according to a statement from the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada, reports the Patria News Agency.

In a certain continuity, for reasons known only to the ICTY, the indictment against Radovan Karadžić was reduced from 32 to 11, and then to 8 municipalities. However, all available, valid, and reliable documents, and above all, empirical data sources, confirm and prove that genocide was committed in all occupied places, besieged cities, and United Nations safe zones, for which Radovan Karadžić is guilty.

By issuing such a verdict, the expectations of the genocide victims would have been met, justice would have been served, and a clear message would have been sent to everyone on Planet Earth that, in case of planning, preparing, organizing, and committing genocide, a just punishment would follow.

This would mean that the Planet has a built and developed consciousness and a system of universal values in contemporary democratic human society, the will and determination to act towards preventing and punishing the crime of genocide, thereby confirming in the practice of human and social life the purpose and expediency of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. A court that is not prepared to fully punish a crime is an immoral, political court.

Only complete truth and justice are the foundation for the future of a unified, sovereign, democratic BiH. BiH, Europe, and the world remain without a seal on truth and justice as a warning to future criminals, according to the statement signed by the Director of the Institute, Emir Ramić.
