Rocket attack on Iraqi military base Taji, one British and two American soldiers lost their lives

(Patria) – One British and two American soldiers lost their lives and dozens were wounded when 18 smaller 107 mm Katyusha rockets hit the Taji military base north of Baghdad.

Two American officials who shared the information with the Reuters news agency on condition of anonymity warned that the fatal outcome could be even higher given the number of seriously injured, and that it is still too early to attribute responsibility for the attack to any side in the conflict in Iraq – even a suggestion that Iran-backed paramilitary formations could be involved could stir up spirits and exacerbate the already high tensions between Iran and the USA.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab stressed that 'those behind the attack must be held accountable'.

Let us recall, in January, the top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani was killed in an American attack, to which Iran responded with a missile attack on an Iraqi military base where American military forces were stationed. More than 100 soldiers were seriously injured in the attack.
