Works on the road from Sarajevo Airport to Mojmilo in full swing

Works on the construction of the second phase of the A transversal, a modern road that will connect Sarajevo International Airport with the city center, are underway, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

The contractor is the company Euro-Asfalt and the Institute for Construction of KS, which supervises the execution of works.

Although it was initially planned that the construction of the A transversal would last three years, according to the contractor's estimates, the road could be completed by summer.

The Municipality of Novi Grad worked on resolving property-legal relations, so several residential buildings were expropriated and demolished, and the road was built in their place. A small part of the land remains, on whose expropriation the Institute for Construction of KS is working, so it is expected that there will be no problems that could affect the dynamics of the works.

The first section of the road is completely finished, and the green belt and the bicycle and pedestrian zone along the road itself remain to be done. In the next period, the construction of a roundabout under Mojmilo Children's Village will begin, at the junction of the A and tenth transversals.

- The A transversal is the widest road in Sarajevo and it is very important that it is the first road you enter after arriving at the airport. On both sides of the road, next to the bicycle and pedestrian paths, a green belt has been left, which will be complemented by greenery and flowers, so the entrance to the city will be arranged like other metropolises - said Mayor Semir Efendić.

As stated by Prime Minister Elmedin Konaković, the construction of the road will result in the opening of the airport entrance itself. - For us, this has economic significance and the significance of relieving traffic infrastructure. When you land in the capital of a country, it is nice to exit onto a wide road that leads you to the city center. This is a continuation of our activities, and Mayor Efendić issued a building permit for the construction of LOT 2 C, and we are very satisfied with the infrastructure works in the Sarajevo Canton, and especially in the Municipality of Novi Grad - stated Konaković.

The total value of the project is around 5.8 million convertible marks, and it is jointly financed by the Sarajevo Canton through the Directorate for Roads and the Municipality of Novi Grad. About two million was spent last year, while 3.8 million KM has been secured for the remaining works.
