Works on the Buna – Počitelj sub-section proceeding according to plan

(Patria) - Works on the sub-section of the Corridor Vc highway Buna – Počitelj are proceeding according to plan. Structures completed so far include the Bivolje Brdo underpass, one animal passage, and the Grabovina overpass.

“Earthworks, primarily excavations and embankments, are currently being carried out along the entire route, including the area of the Rotimski potok rest stop. Reinforced concrete works are being performed on the animal passage structure, and preparatory works and foundation excavations are underway on the Kevčić overpass structure. Drainage culverts and other supporting reinforced concrete structures are also being constructed along the route,” said Antonio Križanac, project manager for the Buna – Počitelj sub-section.

Works on the Buna – Počitelj sub-section began in August last year, and their completion is expected in early 2020.

The Buna - Počitelj sub-section is 7.2 km long and is part of the Corridor Vc highway section Mostar jug – Počitelj. It is located on geologically very favorable and relatively flat terrain, and it does not represent a technically demanding project, being considered one of the simpler sections on the entire corridor. The route of this sub-section passes through the Čapljina municipality and partly through the Mostar municipality. Its location does not intersect densely populated areas, it passes above the Neretva river canyon near several settlements, and ends just before the Počitelj interchange. Structures along the route include two overpasses, one underpass, two animal passages, and the bilateral Rotimski potok rest stop.

The construction works are being carried out by the domestic company Hering d.d. Široki Brijeg, and supervision is provided by the company Aecom S.L.U. from Spain. The value of the construction contract is EUR 25,692,383.53 including VAT, with funds secured through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The Buna – Počitelj sub-section connects to the Počitelj – Zvirovići sub-section, where works are set to begin in mid-August. Works are also underway on the reconstruction of the regional road from Tromeđa to Zvirovići, which also serves as an access road to the highway.
