Radovan Karadžić sentenced to life imprisonment!

THE HAGUE, (Patria) - The Hague Tribunal today finally sentenced Radovan Karadžić to life imprisonment!

The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) sentenced the former president of Republika Srpska, an entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Radovan Karadžić, on March 24, 2016, in a first-instance proceeding to 40 years in prison for genocide, crimes against humanity, and violations of the laws and customs of war, but that sentence was today changed to life imprisonment.

Karadžić, who was the first president of Republika Srpska and the supreme civilian commander of the Army of Republika Srpska during the aggression against the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1992 to 1995, was found guilty in the second-instance verdict read today in the courtroom of the Hague Tribunal.

The final verdict for war criminal Radovan Karadžić was delivered today by the judges of the Appeals Chamber, five of them, led by presiding judge Vagn Pruss Joensen from Denmark.

Along with the presiding judge of the Appeals Chamber, Danish judge Joensen, the chamber consists of judges William Hussein Sekule from Tanzania, José Ricardo de Prada Solaesa from Spain, Graciela Susana Gatti Santana from Uruguay, and Ivo Nelson de Caires Batista Rosa from Portugal.
